City Reach Christmas Party

On Sunday 11th December, children from Northam joined us at Canford for the annual City Reach Christmas party.  The day was as festive as always, starting with a wonderful Christmas lunch in the Great Hall.  Canford pupils then took them swimming in the Sports Centre before lots of party games that were enjoyed by all.  Canfordians take up the story below:

"Helping out with the City Reach children’s Christmas party was very enjoyable. I loved swimming with my partner, Naomi as she didn’t know how to swim yet she was so keen to learn. We then played a ball game to see what the highest rally we could get was and she didn’t want to stop! I bonded really well with a sweet girl who wore a very precious pink ribbon in her hair and at the end she came up to me and said, ‘I will miss you Zarah’ and gave me a hug. All the children were so grateful and it made me so happy seeing their faces light up with happiness as they won the ‘pass the parcel’ - I was almost disappointed to see them leave. This was such an amazing experience and I would love to do it again!"

"On Sunday we welcomed the children from City Reach for their annual Christmas party. They all had a great time and so did all of us who came along to help. We first helped them through the dining hall to get their Christmas lunch, before we all headed to the swimming pool and they all had fun playing in the pool. We then finished the day with party games. Over the course of the day we really got to know the children, which was lovely, especially as there was enough of us so that we could look after a small group of children the whole time we were in the pool. The opportunity to be involved with the event was a very rewarding experience, over Christmas we are all going to have so much; so it was lovely to be able to give a wonderful Christmas party to those who are not as fortunate as us."
