The War on Terror Explained, Major General Chip Chapman

As part of our Sixth Form General Studies enrichment programme, we were delighted to welcome Major General Chip Chapman. His 33 years in the British Army as a paratrooper officer included participation in the Falklands War as a young lieutenant and various secret missions to far flung places around the globe.  Between 2007 and 2010, he was a notable head of counter-terrorism and UK operations reporting directly to the Prime Minister.   His book ‘Notes from a Small Military’ is available at

Chip gave an informative talk clarifying the issues surrounding the Islamic State in an easily understandable and thought provoking way and we thank him very much for taking the time to visit.
