One of the many advantages of attending a boarding school is the opportunity to participate in a wide range of co-curricular activities. There are so many different sporting, academic and artistic options on offer that pupils can always find something of interest. These activities result in increased confidence, foster good teamwork and co-operation which in turn bring real benefits to overall achievement.
Sixth Form pupils are encouraged to help organise and run activities for themselves and younger pupils. Some, for example, have regularly entered the Devizes to Westminster Canoe race, taking responsibility for their own organisation and preparation. Others devise and run successful fund-raising events for charity.
So the range of activities is by no means limited by the school gates. Canfordians can take part in a programme of ‘enterprises’ which include a strong Combined Cadet Force, a Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme, Adventure training and a Community Service programme which operates locally.
From this lengthy list you can see just how much variety there is in the co-curricular activities available at Canford. The list is by no means exhaustive and the programme is always developing.
